What is your latest zombie release?
It’s a comedic feminist YA zombie novel called VEGAN TEENAGE ZOMBIE HUNTRESS.

The elevator pitch:
It’s a mashup of some of my fave funny things from pop culture: think of it as Daria meetsMean Girls meets Shaun of the Dead.
A quick story synopsis:
Clarissa Hargrove thinks prom sucks. She’s been protesting it for weeks, but the conformist sheep that go to Redvale High could care less. Not one single girl has ditched her prom gown in the name of feminism, except for Clarissa’s loyal, underappreciated BFF Cokie. But Clarissa is still on a mission to save more souls—she’ll be at prom, with her bullhorn and picket signs, telling girls they have one last chance to ditch their hooker heels and claim their independence before high school is over.
That night, Clarissa drags Cokie to school to protest, but almost everyone at prom has turned into flesh-eating monsters. Trapped in a high-school zombie hellhole, the girls realize they’ve never taken a chance on love, and set out on dangerous quest to save their crushes.
But there’s one teensy little problem.
Clarissa is vegan and hates violence of any kind. Will Cokie and Clarissa survive?
Something unique about it.
The main character is vegan, which presents many opportunities for irony and comedy as she confronts a vegan’s worst fear: humans that eat other humans.
It’s also a girl-power story as well as a story about friendship. How do strong-willed girls put aside their differences to survive?

Whiskey Jack

Quick Description of it (no spoilers)
Whiskey Jack is the story of Corporal Jack Criley, who has finally reached the end of military service that he’s been yearning. Downside of that: It just happened to come a few months early thanks to the Earth’s population turning into crazed  zombies and other savage mutations.
This story follows Jack as he stumbles through the apocalyptic US searching for redemption and closure. The journey to find his loved ones has ended, but it’s not the reunion he had envisioned.
Self-doubt and hatred push him towards a new purpose: To kill as many of the creatures as possible before he dies. Yet something Jack doesn’t fully understand drives him onward. Something he fears as much as the uncertainty of suicide, and no bottle can numb it.

Something unique about it.
The chapters of Whiskey Jack are not in sequential order during the timeline of events. Instead, they act as stand alone shorts that pull together the story in order to show the struggles of the protagonist, Jack Criley.
Jack tackles zombies and various mutations – some that tower over him and brush aside limbs as they push through tree lines. But Jack faces more than the perceived undead. He also deals with a losing battle against alcoholism and self-doubt in the midst of the apocalypse.

Author Bio.
Brice is a US Marine Corp veteran that deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit which responded to the tragic events of Sept. 11th 2001. He later earned The Purple Heart during combat operations in Fallujah, Iraq in 2006/2007.
Since then, he has worked in factories and as a pewter-smith before graduating from the University of Missouri-St.Louis. His military background and work experience are often reflected in his writing. Although he writes in many genres, he considers zombie, apocalyptic, and dystopian stories his true love.
Brice and his wife, Kimberly,  currently reside in a small river town in North Eastern Missouri under the harsh rule of their three daughters: Emilie, Charlotte, and Piper.

Everything happens for a reason... doesn't it?

Review:This book is a promising start to what's going to be an amazing series! This after death book is unique and exciting to the very last page. I really enjoyed the imaginative way Ren found herself in the afterlife - and how her feisty character mixed and clashed with the other members of the house. Author Andy Lockwood has a real creative talent which shines through in his writing. Highly recommended!

What is your latest zombie release?
Zombies and Chainsaws
Quick description of it (no spoilers)
The story is about a dad and his crew of workers on a job away from home. A chemical dump at a cemetery makes the dead rise and when they do the men have nothing but chainsaws and tree trimming tools to make their way out of town to warn everyone.
Something unique about it.
It is old school gore and horror, perfect for anyone that loves Romero. It steps back to the slow stumbling and hungry zombies. It is a good time for sure! The book definitely pays homage to all of the old school zombies.

Mike Evans lives in Iowa with his wife and children. He writes for character depth because he wishes for you to love the character, regardless if they are the villain or the hero. He likes to write from a unique perspective, doing things with books that no one has done before. He keeps his characters realistic, there are no superhero like events that will happen. There are no perfect characters in his books, everyone has their flaws much like that of life.

Day two of the already frigid Winter of Zombie Blog Tour 2015. Armand Rosamilia has stacked the deck heavy this winter the a bevy of zombie authors. Some are familiar names from tours past but this winter promises to spotlight a great many new faces.

One of those ugly mugs is none other than Zach Bohannon. No, not the guitarist from Tesla but the zombie writing lunatic who may have once played the spoons on a certain 90s grunge rock album, but problably not. He deffinitly writes about zombies thought so let's stick to that!


The Blogshit: Let’s cut to the chase, what are you promoting for the Winter of Zombie?

Zach Bohannon: Empty Bodies, which is my series of zombie books. Currently, there are three books out in the series, with book four, entitled Open Roads, due out on December 8th. Right now, the series is slated for six books.


The Blogshit: It’s rarely ever talked about, but how do you envision the outcome of the zombie world you have created? Is there hope? Will humanity succumb to the new world order? What is the outcome of all this horrible zombie business?

Zach Bohannon: This reminds me of Robin Williams’ skit on golf where he says, “We’ll put a flag at the end to give ‘em fuckin’ hope!”. I definitely have a flag at the end of the fairway, but is there hope? It’s the apocalypse!

But no, in all seriousness, as a storyteller, you have to have your characters striving towards some sort of goal. They have to have hope. For instance, one of my characters, Gabriel, certainly has hope that he will find his family. But will I fulfill their hope at the end? We’ll see!

The Blogshit: As a writer of zombie fiction, do you feel you can sustain your career writing about zombies only or do you feel you will need to write outside the sub-genre to continue? What avenues will you branch out to if you do feel a need to expand?

Zach Bohannon: I have no interest in that. I love too many things to stick with just one niche. I’ve always called myself a horror writer and a storyteller. My zombie series just happens to be the thing most people read, and I just so happen to love writing it. I also have a slasher horror story that a lot of people love, I’ve written a paranormal horror story, and I’m in the early stages of writing a trilogy with J. Thorn that is more of a dystopian dark fantasy.

The Blogshit: What is more important to the story: A sympathetic human survivor or a zombie with an interesting storyline?

Zach Bohannon: Empty Bodies is all about the survivors. That’s the main thing I love about The Walking Dead. It’s not really a zombie show. It’s more about the survivors and how they deal with the new world. For me, character and story trumps all.

The Blogshit: For you, who are the most important writers in zombie fiction at this moment?

Zach Bohannon: There’s so many great authors out there in this genre, that I’m not sure how I pick just a couple. I really like what T.W. Piperbrook has done with his Contamination series. K.R. Griffith’s The Wildfire Chronicles is a lot of fun. Glynn James is great. So is TW Brown. Like I said, I’m gonna leave people out and feel bad about it!


The Blogshit: Is there room for sex in the zombie apocalypse?

Zach Bohannon: We’re human: there’s always room for sex.

The Blogshit: How much consideration do you give to the seasons in your zombie stories?

Zach Bohannon: One of the big underlying conflicts in Empty Bodies is how my characters are needing to find some sort of sanctuary before Winter. Everything happens in October, so they don’t have a ton of time. So, it’s very important.

The Blogshit: Our final question always revolves around zombie themed food. This Winter of Zombie, Books, Beer and BLOGshit wants you to consider setting up a food truck to cater to a zombie clientele. What would you name your Zombie Food Truck?

Winter is here already and that means it's time once again for the cold chill of Armand Rosamilia's Winter of Zombie Blog Tour to blow through the BLOGshit. The BLOGshit is always down to spotlight the wide array of those daring to tackle the zombie genre.

This season we start off with one Derkek Ailes. He identifies as a writer of Horror Fantasy and Science Fiction. That combination alone makes him ripe to offer something different to the world of zombies in ficiton. Let's go ahead and take Mr. Ailes to task with this season's BLOGshit interview.





The Blogshit: It’s rarely ever talked about, but how do you envision the outcome of the zombie world you have created? Is there hope? Will humanity succumb to the new world order? What is the outcome of all this horrible zombie business?

Derek Ailes:  There is no stopping a zombie apocalypse.  You can try to survive as a society all you want.  In the end, the zombies always will win.  I believe that zombies will outlive cockroaches.  Aliens will one day visit earth and have to deal with them.


The Blogshit: As a writer of zombie fiction, do you feel you can sustain your career writing about zombies only or do you feel you will need to write outside the sub-genre to continue? What avenues will you branch out to if you do feel a need to expand?

Derek Ailes:  I was writing zombie fiction before the Walking Dead became popular.  I’m not one of “I just jumped on the zombie bandwagon” writers.  When I sit down and begin writing horror short stories for my next anthology, I make a list of the stories I want in the anthology.  I then decide how many stories I want to deal with zombies and then how many to deal with cats.  My last anthology “Musings From A Demented Mind” only had one zombie related story.  I can write about anything in the horror and science fiction genres.  I can survive the industry if people lose interest in the zombie fiction.



The Blogshit: What is more important to the story: A sympathetic human survivor or a zombie with an interesting storyline?

Derek Ailes:   I believe those should go hand and hand.  A great zombie story isn’t one where zombies are on a killing spree.  The stories dealing with something that hasn’t been done before are my favorites.  Surprise me.


The Blogshit: For you, who are the most important writers in zombie fiction at this moment?

Derek Ailes:   Mark Tufo tops the list.  When I do a search for zombie fiction, his name always appears at the top.  Robert Kirkman for obvious reasons.  I attribute the Walking Dead for the resurgence of the zombie genre.  I still say John Russo for being one of the masterminds behind zombie fiction ever. 


The Blogshit: Is there room for sex in the zombie apocalypse?

Derek Ailes:   Got to release your tension somehow.  Well, that is if you have the time between running for your life.


The Blogshit: How much consideration do you give to the seasons in your zombie stories?

Derek Ailes:   To this date, I’ve never paid much attention to the seasons in my zombie fiction.  I’m more focus on the locations.  I’ve never written any zombie stories in the winter.  Thunderstorms are a reoccurring theme throughout all of my stories.

The Blogshit: Our final question always revolves around zombie themed food. This Winter of Zombie, Books, Beer and BLOGshit wants you to consider setting up a food truck to cater to a zombie clientele. What would you name your Zombie Food Truck?
