Winter of Zombie 2015 SPOTLIGHT ON: J.L. Koszarek and Thad David
Divide Then Conquer: Book 1 of The Zombie Company Crusade Series
Inspired by the human struggle for survival, DIVIDE THEN CONQUER is an epic American series exploring what it means to face an unknown enemy while confronting social and cultural mores that no longer work in a world that has been torn apart.
It is late summer 2014, and a mysterious virus threatens to overtake the entire human race. The only chance for survival rests in the hands of a motley crew of courageous, diverse foot soldiers who must band together to overcome the evil forces that are multiplying at an alarming rate.
Covert CIA operatives, a tragic, enigmatic orphan, peaceniks, military leaders, politicians, and militias face off in a world distorted by waves of human panic and unending zombie invasions. Who will remain when the last war ends?
DIVIDE THEN CONQUER, the first book in the Zombie Company Crusade Series, introduces readers to an eclectic mix of crusaders, all fighting to survive the zombie apocalypse—and sometimes, their own dark impulses.
The Zombie Company Crusade series is inspired by The Zombie Company Crusade video game created by author Thad David. The Zombie Company Crusade video game was released world-wide on September 1st, 2015. David was galvanized by his experiences as a Marine Recon Scout Sniper to build a video game and become a writer while working anti-piracy security on ships off the coast of Africa.

David and Koszarek have been life-long friends and began their collaboration in 2014 when David approached Koszarek, having been a published author. Koszarek could not pass on an opportunity to explore contemporary social issues through a thrilling dystopic lens. Their creative partnership, now entering its second year has proven enduring. DIVIDE THEN CONQUER is the first of many books in The Zombie Company Crusade Series. Koszarek and David are currently at work on Book 2.
I write because I am called to do it. Everywhere I go, a story presents itself. I am a novelist because with fiction, I and my collaborators, when I have them can create worlds that test the boundaries of human emotion and physical prowess, borders that clash and sometimes merge. People are amazing creatures and given a set of circumstances from which they can grow and evolve is my passion.
I was born in Nebraska, came of age in Minnesota, and made my way to New Orleans in the 1980’s with a few stops in between. I’ve lived in Pass Christian, Mississippi since 1988. The winds and water of hurricane Katrina ravaged the Mississippi Gulf Coast and wider river region taking with it my home and everything in it, including the nearly finished manuscript of my first novel. This loss and four-year full time migration to the Sangre De Cristo mountain range in Northern New Mexico left me without a sense of place and unable to rewrite the lost story.
For me, life before the storm was a kind of fiction because much of what physically existed no longer does. I am thankful to the community of Angel Fire, New Mexico for opening its heart to me and allowing me to evolve as a writer and reflect on my pain and confusion in my search for a new way in a new world, a fictional avenue that took me home. Currently, I live part-time between Angel Fire, New Mexico and Pass Christian, Mississippi.
A former US Marine Recon Scout Sniper born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1982. Thad David graduated from Saint Stanislaus College Preparatory School in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi in 2001 and then left for Boot Camp in Parris Island. He spent 4 years serving his country performing two tours in Iraq; first for the initial invasion in 2003 and again in 2004. Upon returning from his second tour he spent six months as an Instructor for Pre-Recon School.
Thad David later attended the University of New Orleans where he began studying Biology and Chemistry. With an unexpected turn of fate, he left university and went to Africa where he worked anti-piracy security on ships. His time aboard ship in West Africa inspired him create a mobile game called “Zombie Company Crusade”.
A few months later, Thad moved to Fort Collins, Colorado to work as a sales coach by day and create “Zombie Company Crusade” by night, which influenced his first book, “Divide Then Conquer: The Zombie Company Crusade Series”. The “Divide Then Conquer” journey consists of a 10 part series that contains zombie horror, political suspense and cultural reflections.
